UNAD Florida was first provisionally licensed on January 26th, 2004.

Mission

UNAD Florida is committed to fulfill the educational needs of the Hispanic community who wants to improve their quality of life by seeking higher educational degrees, leading to more lucrative career options. UNAD Florida wants to offer its educational services to anyone that wants to improve their educational experience, especially reaching the most vulnerable sectors of society, to the most coveted, surpassing geographic, cultural and socioeconomic barriers.

We prepare and insert our students and faculty in the global knowledge economy, by teaching them to develop new knowledge through research and through networking with third party academic, business, government or social organizations, inserting them into the global economy.

Our courses are offered via the internet, on a 100% online platform, with outstanding quality processes and resources, providing an excellent quality education, supported by an efficient and relevant organization, counting with appropriate technology to deliver the product in a reliable, effective and safe method. Our research and networking technology, processes and resources promote the creation of knowledge communities, with a global projection.

We foster to steadily develop our human capital, promoting outstanding faculty and support personnel, with a strong vocation to serve our communities, who are fluent in English and Spanish, with strong academic and professional credentials, knowledgeable of information technology, aided by appropriate instructional design.

As our online nature demands, we incorporate innovation and learning as key aspects of our organization, applying new technological innovations so our academic community can have a fulfilling and enjoyable e-learning, research and networking experiences. We rely on continuing improvement and knowledge management processes, to ensure having an organization that improves steadily, so our students are able to exhibit academic and professional skills allowing them to be competitive in the global market.

UNAD Florida seeks to be a highly sought after online university.

We commit to transcending geographical, cultural and socioeconomic barriers by promoting open-minded leadership, as well as entrepreneurship in our students through an enriching e-learning, research and networking experiences.

We want to be perceived as a highly desired educational institution, overcoming the perception that the quality of online education is sub-par to that of the brick and mortar school, so high that many people would want to attend its offering

We want to be recognized as an institution that cares for the community, who acts with values, and promotes individual and community values. We want to contribute to a sustainable economic, social, cultural, environmental and technological development.

Long Term Goals

  • To maintain an excellent online educational process by continuously reviewing and improving the quality standards with the implementation of an organizational evaluation system.

  • To apply a systematic design of instruction that guarantees the effectiveness of the instructional process by writing an instructional design handbook and training faculty in the application of the handbook’s content.

  • To assure a high quality teaching process by maintaining a faculty with the highest qualifications. To constantly improve our technological resources with modern hardware, software and communications equipment.

  • To foster online learning communities with the delivery of academic and social forums and other communication tools.

  • To instill in our instructors that human concerns need to be recognized in the classroom and should be dealt with.

  • To promote scientific research by organizing specific fields within the academic programs.

  • To promote educational projects for different populations that contribute to the acquisition of the new academic, technical or professional skills.

  • To prepare our students for a competitive global market by developing a critical and free-thinking leadership training.

  • To offer affordable programs in accordance with our commitment of recognizing accessibility to all socioeconomic groups.

 

Research Center

Mission

Foster institutional research leadership and guarantee the development of high quality applied research, both with the aim of placing UNAD Florida as a world-class university.

  • The Research Center is part of UNAD Florida’s organization, responsible to support UNAD Florida’s scholar, academic and community development excellence

  • The Research Center is a vehicle to create and share intellectual capital (knowledge and relationships) for the benefit of our students, faculty, and related communities: families, society, businesses, government and intermediate communities

  • The Research Center contributes to the community by developing and providing intellectual and technological resources. It strives to have a leadership role in online educational technology, research and community development

  • The Research Center believes on the benefit of developing and enacting individual and community values, fostering a socially responsible community. In this regard, it assumes a role of promoting the human development of our Latin American communities.

  • The Research Center is committed to continually improve, grow, learn, to better support our communities.

Vision

Online education is expected to have a future dramatic growth, in terms of knowledge, accessing new sectors of the society, new locations, and fulfilling new needs of our communities.

The Research Center is expected to play a key role in supporting UNAD Florida’s vocation to serve its communities, with a search of excellence in the creation of knowledge and development of knowledge communities.

Long Term Goals

  • To become the backbone of a continuous intellectual capital (knowledge and relationships) creation and sharing for UNAD Florida’s communities

  • To foster students and faculty knowledge creation and sharing, integrating them with external communities, empowering them to develop intellectual capital

  • To apply modern knowledge management and continuous improvement concepts within UNAD Florida and its communities

  • To collaborate with other universities and research centers to jointly develop intellectual capital

  • To develop resources internally, identify and share existing external resources to support such intellectual capital creation: internet portal, knowledge databases, links to external sources, e-libraries, etc.

  • To foster the development of a culture based on individual and community values, focused on social responsibility and sustainability research and education publishing and conferencing

  • To foster interdisciplinary research, to integrate knowledge to help integrating the individual and the community

Interactional model

Our interactional model follows the metaphor of a tree, with branches that are expected to grow endlessly.

Intellectual capital (knowledge and relationships) follow the law of the "increasing returns", the more you invest, the more you work on it, the more value it develops.

This is UNAD Florida's expectation, that the Research Center can become a backbone of value creation, growth, innovation, to do things better steadily, forever.
